Update on Sales Performance for the First Four Months of 2026
Against the backdrop of continued macroeconomic uncertainty, with geopolitical developments in the Middle East affecting the economic climate and volatility in energy prices continuing to exert pressure on costs and consumer behaviour, the JUMBO Group recorded an increase in sales of c. +4% y-o-y during the first four months of 2026.
The Group’s positive performance in Greece (+7%) and Bulgaria (+9%) largely offset the pressures recorded in the Romanian market (-7%) and Cyprus (+2%).
It should be noted that the timing shift of the Easter holidays resulted in part of the seasonal sales being transferred to March. Consequently:
- In April 2026, total sales decreased by c. -4% y-o-y.
The first days of May indicate signs of a normalization in sales performance, in line with the guidance (+5%).
In Romania, the market is showing signs of slowdown, mainly due to inflationary pressures and by extension restrained consumer spending. At the same time, the political uncertainty of recent days is playing a decisive role in the weakening of the local currency (RON) against the Euro.
Nevertheless, the JUMBO Group’s investment plan for the Romanian market remains unchanged, reaffirming the Group’s long-term commitment to this market.
- During 2026, the opening of a new store in Baia Mare, as well as the new Giga distribution center (60.000 sq.m.), is expected. This investment constitutes a key pillar for the optimization of the supply chain and the support of the Group’s long-term growth in the country.
