Anyone who is at least 18 years old and holds the (α1) or (α2) certificate from the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, or another equivalent certificate that allows the provision of services covered by at least the (α2) certificate. 

The examination material for the specialties of STC and DTC covers topics related to the Regulations of the Organized Markets of the Euronext Athens as well as topics concerning the operation of transactions on the Euronext Athens and the related systems.

Our examinations are held at least once a year at the Euronext Athens headquarters (110 Athinon Avenue, Athens 104 42). The deadlines, application details, and examination schedule are posted on this page.

The participation fee for the examinations amounts to €150, and should be deposited into the following ALPHA BANK account. The bank deposit slip, under the depositor's name, must be presented or sent along with the application for participation.

The documents required in order for the applications to be considered complete and become accepted by the Euronext Athens are the following:

• Application for the acquisition of STC and DTC Certificates (fully completed and signed)
   
• Certificate of type (α1) or (α2) of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission or Bank of Greece
   
• Copy of identity card or passport (certified)
   
• Bank deposit slip under Euronext Athens (€150) 
   

To participate in the examinations, you must submit your written application form and the above documents within the deadline at the Euronext Athens Protocol Office or send them to the following email: certifications-ATHENS@euronext.com.

According to the Euronext Athens Resolution No. 3, a candidate may be exempt from the certification exams of STC and DTC in the following cases;

1. Holds

• a certificate corresponding to the one concerned in the candidate's application, which must have been awarded by the authorities or the entities or the stock exchanges of a regulated market of an EEA member state or a third country, or
• has two years of experience, gained over the last five (5) years before submitting the application for certification with a member of a regulated market in an EEA member state, USA, Canada or Australia, where they performed trader duties similar to those being the object of the certification applied for
   

2. Has attended a special seminar organized by Euronext Athens on matters concerning the specialization of the relevant certification. Such seminars are organized at least twice (2) a year.

3. By using a form made available by Euronext Athens to the interested parties, both the candidate and the Member within which they intend to exercise their duties declare that they are aware of the regulations and the relevant resolutions of the Athens Exchange governing the operation of stock trading in the Euronext Athens, the Clearing, Settlement and Risk Management and the systems associated therewith, as well as that they fully understand the contents thereof, by being fully aware of the obligations and consequences emerging from exercising the duties of a Certified Securities or Derivatives Trader, depending on the case.

Euronext Athens Exchange trader license

In order for a candidate to be admitted as a trader of the Euronext Athens Securities and Derivatives Markets, he/she must have previously successfully passed the Euronext Athens exchange trader examination.

In particular:

• The official trader examination for the Securities market of Euronext Athens Exchange for being registered as a trader on the Securities market on ATHENS Exchange, and / or
• The official trader examination for the Derivatives market of Euronext Athens Exchange for being registered as a trader on the Derivatives market on Euronext Athens
   

Certification examinations are held by Euronext Athens Academy at least once a year. The duration of the examination for each Certification is 120 minutes for each certificate and candidates must answer correctly at least sixty per cent (60%) of the questions.

Exemption from the Certification examinations

The obligation to possess a pass in the trader examination is not required in the following cases:

• Requirements for the Securities market of Euronext Athens Exchange:
  • Candidates must hold a certificate corresponding to the one concerned in the candidate's application, which must have been awarded by the authorities or the entities or the stock exchanges of a regulated market of an EEA member state or a third country.
  • Candidates must have attended the online training session organized by Euronext Athens Academy. The online training session is organized at least twice a year.
     
• Requirements for the Derivatives market of Euronext Athens Exchange:
  • Candidates must hold a certificate corresponding to the one concerned in the candidate's application, which must have been awarded by the authorities or the entities or the stock exchanges of a regulated market of an EEA member state or a third country.
  • Candidates must have attended the online training session organized by Euronext Athens Academy. The online training session is organised at least twice a year.
