METKA INDUSTRIAL - CONSTRUCTION S.A.

METKA’S REPLY TO A QUESTION FROM THE HELLENIC CAPITAL MARKET COMMISSION

In response to the communication with ref. no. 1529/17.4.2013 of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission concerning a request for clarifications on the potential undertaking by METKA of a project budgeted at $1 billion in Iraq, METKA S.A. informs the investing public of the following:

  1. METKA S.A., in Consortium with its wholly-owned subsidiary METKA Overseas Ltd., participates in an international tender procedure for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of a natural gas fired combined-cycle power plant in the Al-Anbar area.
  2. The combined technical proposal and financial offer of the METKA Consortium, as well as the other four (4) offers submitted, have been under evaluation by the competent Services of the Ministry of Electricity of Iraq since May 2012.
  3. The technical proposal of the METKA Consortium relies on Alstom wind turbine technology and its financial offer stands at $1,050 million.
  4. According to the standing procedure in Iraq, as soon as the procedure involving the evaluation of the tenders is concluded and the result is approved, the Ministry for Electricity invites the top-ranked tenderer to negotiations for signing the contract on the basis of the tender submitted and of the terms and conditions under which it was evaluated by the competent Services.
  5. Until today and contrary to strong rumours, the METKA Consortium has received no official updates and, of course, no invitation to negotiations as the top-ranked tenderer.
  6. Should we receive an official invitation to negotiations we shall immediately issue a relevant announcement, to be followed by an announcement about the outcome of the negotiations once these are completed.
