Commencement of trading of new shares from capital increase by the distribution of dividend in the form of shares
MARFIN POPULAR BANK PUBLIC CO LTD (the "Bank") informs the investors that the Annual General Meeting of the Bank, which was held on 18/05/2011 decided, among others, the distribution of final dividend for the year 2010 of 0,10 euro per share in the form of shares issued by the Bank with an issue price of 1,00 euro. The maximum number of shares, which might be issued form the increase of the share capital because of the distribution of dividend in the form of shares, is 147.028.393.
The Board of Directors of the Athens Exchange (ASE) at its meeting held on 23/05/2011 approved the listing for trading of up to 147.028.393 new shares of the Bank.
The 25 May 2011 was set as the ex-dividend date. From the same date, the starting price for trading of the shares of the Bank on the ASE and the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) will be formulated according to the Regulations of the two Stock Exchanges.
Beneficiaries of the above increase will be the shareholders who will be registered in the Dematerialised Securities System (DSS) and the Central Depository / Registry of the CSE on 27/05/2011 (record date).
The investors will be informed with a further announcement of the final number of the shares which will be issued from the above increase (i.e. the number of shares which will be issued after the deduction of the amount payable for Special Contribution for Defence based on the Questionnaires which the Bank will receive completed and signed from the shareholders up to 8 June 2011).
The trading of the new shares which will be issued from the distribution of the dividend in the form of shares on both Stock Exchanges will begin on June 27th, 2011, provided that the approval of CSE is also obtained. On the same date the above shares will be credited to the investor accounts and securities accounts of the beneficiary shareholders on the Dematerialised Securities System (DSS) and the Central Depository / Registry of the Cyprus Stock Exchange.
