Marfin Popular Bank Public Co Ltd announces in accordance to Law 3556/2007, that on 4 March, 2008 The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc gave it notice of the purchase of 11.000.000 shares of the Bank, at a price of euro 6,88 per share (transaction date 27/02/2008). According to the company's notification, following the purchase of the above shares the total percentage of shares held by The Royal Bank of Scotland was increased from 4,96% to 6,34%. However, it is noted that The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc acquired the said shares as a hedging position to its customer business.
