Agreement with the Municipality of Trikala
Lannet announces it signed an agreement with the Municipality of Trikala for the pilot joint venture concerning the expansion of the Municipality's infrastructure network that will benefit people of the greater area.
In more detail, the Municipality of Trikala will grant Lannet the exclusive use of its current fibre optics network that has already been deployed whereon Lannet will apply the appropriate technology and know how using its facilities, and will also provide the necessary equipment in order to allow Trikala to expand its infrastructure network.
In addition, Lannet will deploy a WiMAX network in the area as well as all necessary equipment in order to provide broadband services to the local people (VoIP Telephony, Entertainment, High speed Internet access, e-mail services etc.).
With this agreement, Lannet will ensure the required "bandwidth" to enable the operation and the backhaul interconnection in 15 Wi-Fi hotspots, 5 of which will be provided by Lannet. Hence, via the Wi-Fi network, the Municipality of Trikala will continue to offer the services to its 70,000 inhabitants, like it has done for the past three years, free of charge, courtesy of Lannet's sponsorship, allowing secure internet access at a higher speed and in addition, Lannet will have the ability to expand the range of services offered.
Moreover, Lannet will provide the livebox & Playbox platforms to the local people at very competitive prices.
It is noted, that the launch of the commercial operations of the network will take place within the 1st semester of 2008.
