On Tuesday, March 1, 2016, the Athens Stock Exchange in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) successfully organised a seminar at the Stock Exchange's premises on the topic: "The capital market touch"- Financing enterprises and projects. Trends, tools and solutions. Attracting available international liquidity through the stock market.
This event falls into the broader context of the Athens Stock Exchange's activities in order to highlight the available solutions and financing tools of Greek Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
On this occasion, Mr. Andr? Kuusvek, EBRD Director closed the Athens Stock Exchange's meeting which was held on Tuesday, March 1.
The main points that emerged from yesterday's meeting were:
- The new financing trend of enterprises and developmental projects by the capital markets.
- The availability of investment capital from the international environment provided that principles of transparency, corporate governance and adequate free dispersion are observed.
- The widespread use of Listed Private Equities / Listed Funds for financing SMEs and startups, innovative and export enterprises.
- The readiness of the local stock market for the implementation of internationally acceptable financing solutions.
The seminar began with the presentation - speech by Dr Daniela Peterhoff - Partner, Head of Market Infrastructure, Oliver Wyman on the topic: "Trends in financing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Europe and internationally. How companies can take advantage of the stock markets to find capital?"
A discussion then followed on the topic "How Greek enterprises can receive finance through the Stock Exchange?". Participating in the discussion were Mr. Andre Kuusvek - Director, Local Currency and Capital Markets Development (LC2), EBRD, Mr. Cedric Pacheco, Associate, Growth, AFME and Mrs. Daniela Peterhoff - Partner, Head of Market Infrastructure. The discussion was moderated by Mrs. Georgia Mourla, Listed Companies Director of the Athens Stock Exchange.
The second part of the seminar started with a speech by Dr. Michel Degosciu - Founding Partner, LPX AG on the topic: "The financial tool of Listed Private Equities/Listed Fund for companies and infrastructure projects".
Participating in the discussion that followed were Mr. Russell Healey - Partner, Foresight Group, Mr. John Newlands - Head of Investment Companies Research, Brewin Dolphin Limited, Mr. Nicola Redi, Ph.D - Investment Director, Vertis SGR SpA and Mr. Hannes Takacs - Associate Director, Local Currency and Capital Markets Development (LC2), EBRD. The topic of discussion was: "The use of Listed Private Equity/Listed Funds and Project Bonds for financing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Projects". The moderator of the discussion was Mr. Nikos Porfyris, Deputy Staff Deputy Chief Operating Officer at the Athens Stock Exchange.
