RILKEN S.A. ANNOUNCES NINE MONTHS 2011 RESULTS
In the first nine months of 2011, the company realized sales of 29,238 Τ €, an increase of 2.2% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year (1-9 2010: 28,618 T €), despite of the more unfavorable economic conditions of the local market.
Cost of goods sold increased by 4.4% compared to the nine month period of 2010, while as a percentage of sales it increased by 90 bps to 42.9% (1-9 2010: 42%). This was mainly due to the higher material prices, boosted allowances to the market as well as the product mix.
For the above mentioned reasons, gross profit increased by 0.6% to 16,695 T € (1-9 2010: 16,598 T €). As a percentage of sales, gross profit declined by 90 bps to 57.1% (1-9 2010: 58.0 %).
Operating expenses (administration and distribution) were reduced by 9.1% and amounted to 15,809 T € (1-9 2010: 17,386 T €), resulting mainly from the reduction of third party and advertising expenses, while other operating income decreased to 113 T € (1-9 2010: 176 T €). In addition, other expenses were reduced significantly by 43.9% compared to the previous year period and amounted to 635 T € (1-9 2010: 1,132 T €), mainly due to the lower provisions for bad debts.
For the above mentioned reasons, earnings before interest and taxes recorded a profit of 363 T € against a loss of 1,744 T € in the corresponding period of the previous year. Earnings before taxes recorded a profit of 358 T € against a loss of 1,746 T € and earnings after taxes recorded a profit of 127 T € versus a loss of 1,713 T € in the nine month period of 2010.
